Sky Blues get nostalgic
Coventry have unveiled an historic club crest which will appear on their home kit in 2011/12 for one season only. The simple navy blue and white design features only the badge`s traditional elephant, castle and football and has been taken from the midlands club`s matchday programmes in the 1960s.The crest has never appeared on a Sky Blues shirt in the past and will merely be used on the home kit for a single term, with the more familiar modern-day badge still being used on next season`s away kit and other merchandise.Coventry head of retail Justin Tose told the club`s official website: "Most supporters are beginning to guess the kit will lean towards our heritage and that`s great but we haven`t revealed the whole strip yet."I`ve spoken to a lot of fans about this over the past few weeks and months and people are really excited about the plans for using this crest."They also love the fact we are looking back at our history - particularly with the recent decision to build a statue in Jimmy Hill`s honour - and incorporating that theme into next season`s kit."
