Sixteenth Place And Safety For Sky Blues

Championship Round Up Coventry City booked another season of Championship football when Marlon King's 82nd minute goal was enough to give the Sky Blues a 2-1 win over Millwall. The win not only moved City up to sixteenth in the table but saw Coventry go twelve points clear of third from bottom Scunthorpe, who won 2-1 at 21st placed Crystal Palace with four games to go. Whilst Scunthorpe could reach the 52 points that City have attained, the Sky Blues only have a minus three goal difference compared to the goal difference of Scunthorpe who visit the Ricoh Arena on Friday afternoon, who have a minus 36 goal difference. City's victory took them above Middlesbrough and Barnsley who drew 1-1, whilst Derby who play at QPR on Monday night are 19th and Doncaster who lost 3-1 at Hull City are 20th. Preston remain second bottom but are three points better off after beating bottom side Sheffield United 3-1. Micky Adams side had former Sky Blue Michael Doyle booked in the match which means it will take something very special for the Blades to avoid the drop. At the other end of the table, Cardiff City moved back into second with a 3-0 win over Portsmouth with former Sky Blue Jay Bothroyd getting one of the goals. Reading, who visit the Ricoh Arena on April 30th, moved up to fourth with a 3-1 win over Leicester City, whilst fifth placed Swansea lost 2-1 at Burnley and sixth placed Leeds were held 2-2 at home by Watford. Elsewhere, Ipswich had ten men for most of the match but still won 1-0 at Bristol City.
