Shaw's Millwall Departure Confirmed
City Old Boy News
Former Coventry City defender Richard Shaw has been officially left the employment of Millwall Football Club, it has been announced.
Shawsy had been a coach and reserve team boss following his retirement from playing and there had been rumours two months ago that he had been sacked by Lions boss Kenny Jackett.
Millwall Chairman John Berylson confirmed that Shaw had left the South London club and told the South London Press: "I do not see myself as hierarchical but I do think if you give someone responsibility for a task, they should not have staff foisted upon them.
"The broader picture is that people who run an organisation should be allowed to have people working for them that they think will get the best results in terms of what they are trying to do. And in this case, I do not question the decision that has been taken.
"Richard was great for this club and one of my favourite members of staff. He was a great player and won our Player of the Season award in 2007.
"I think the world of him - and think he has a very bright future in front of him. He will do very well. He is intelligent, professional and would be an asset wherever he chooses to go and work."
