Sears makes Sky Blues move

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has added West Ham United forward Freddie Sears to his squad on loan until the end of the season.

After Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola had brought Ilan, Mido and Benni McCarthy to Upton Park recently, he has decided to allow the youngster to make the move to the Midlands.

The 20-year-old will challenge Freddy Eastwood and Clinton Morrison for a starting berth with the Championship outfit looking to pull away from the wrong end of the table.

Sears has spent much of this season at Crystal Palace after making a temporary switch from the Premier League side and now Coleman believes he will go on to win the fans over.

Speaking to the Coventry Evening Telegraph, Coleman said: "Freddie's a very good young player and we're very pleased to have him on board for the rest of the season.

"He's a hungry striker who's really keen to impress and I like that in a player. He's very exciting and I think our supporters will take to him immediately."
