Saddlers deny Morrell swoop

Walsall boss Kevan Broadhurst has slammed reports claiming he is set to try and take Coventry striker Andy Morrell to the Bescot on loan.

The former Wrexham striker, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Ricoh Arena, is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be handed a new deal by boss Micky Adams.

Reports suggested Broadhurst, who succeeded Paul Merson recently, was on the verge of offering him the chance to get his career back on track with the struggling League One side.

However, he said: "I've not spoken to Micky Adams about Morrell. He's a decent player but not the sort I'm after. I'm still looking to bring someone in but it's proving difficult."

Meanwhile, Adams has admitted that veteran midfielder Dennis Wise could be offered a new contract to remain with the Championship side beyond the end of this season.

He said: "If he continues to play like he has been he would have a compelling case for earning another contract."
