Robins looking to strengthen squad this week

A new striker could be on his way to The Ricoh

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said he would like to add at least one player to his squad as he prepares for a final push for promotion.

Robins has seven days in which to capture the new player, he hinted that it may be a striker but did not confirm that. He did, however, confirm that he is not interested in recently released Ipswich Town striker Jason Scotland.

At yesterday’s press conference Robins denied the talk linking Coventry City with Scotland said, “I am always interested in players, although there’s nothing in that one.  There’s seven days left of the transfer window so maybe someone is trying to generate some interest but I can’t see that that would happen here and we’d probably need one or two out before we could bring anybody in.

“I’m not saying it won’t happen – although not for that particular player because I have got my eye on someone and we’ll see what happens in the out department.”

Robins was asked if he is trying to bring in another striker to which he replied, “I’m in the market for good players; people who are going to help us in the run in. I wouldn’t like to confine it to a position. If I can get someone who can make a difference then yes, I’ll try to do it, and, generally, if I can get someone who is going to guarantee me goals then I’d be very, very interested, but we have to wait and see and like I say, if someone goes out it might just trigger something.”
