Pressley Warns Of Players Against Their Former Clubs

City Boss On The City Old Boys At Port Vale

Coventry City travel to Port Vale on Saturday to take on a club who know all about the Sky Blues.

Their Chairman Norman Smurthwaite is a former City season ticket holder and born in Wyley Road, Radford and Vale's manager is Micky Adams a former player and twice manager who has watched the Sky Blues three times at Northampton.

Wwhilst on the playing side, are four players, all of whom could feature in Saturday's game. They are: Lee Hughes who can expect plenty of abuse from the City support; Chris Birchall, who was a major factor in Coventry City Reserves winning the Birmingham Senior Cup in 2007 and loanee Richard Duffy who played for Coventry in four separate loans and Carl Dickinson who came in and did a good job last season on loan from Watford.

Speaking about these links to the Press Association, Steven Pressley said:  "I think, generally, players who are playing against their former teams tend to give that little bit more, which in itself shouldn't be the case because they should be giving that week in, week out.

"Vale have got a number of connections, previous managers and I think their chairman is a Coventry City fan."
