Nuneaton Thank City
City thanked for helping out Nuneaton
Nuneaton Town have thanked Coventry City for their assistance in loaning them players.
City have loaned Lee Burge and Arron Phillips who played a big part in Kevin Wilkin's side retaining their Conference Premier status, as well as Kevin Malaga.
In a statement, Nuneaton, who will again play the Sky Blues in a pre-season friendly, said: "Our historic relationship with Coventry City FC has seen several young players shine at the Boro before returning to enjoy first team football with the Sky Blues.
"This season, on the heels of past success stories such as Nathan Cameron and Cyrus Christie, we have benefited from two more star defensive players. Lee Burge solved Nuneaton's goalkeeper injury issues when he arrived at the end of January, and his stint in the net has contributed enormously to the team's boost in form and number of clean sheets. Lee quickly developed a bond with his defenders and has made terrific progress, monitored by his peers and reported back by our management team.
"Aaron Philips joined at the same time as Burge has put in some assured performances in the latter half of the season to make the right back spot his own. Aaron grew in stature after scoring against Telford, putting in a mazy run and one-two with Moult to provide one of the crucial goals in a must-win game. Arguably his best performance came at Gateshead, where he displayed excellent string tackling and good distribution.
"They were not the first Coventry players to appear for Boro on loan last season, as Kevin Malaga had also added a touch of Gaelic flair to the defence earlier in the campaign. He made his debut at Luton in the FA Cup, a competition where a fellow loanee, Tyrell Waite from Notts County, made a big impression with goals at Telford and the Hatters. We thank Notts County for their assistance.
"We would particularly like to thank Coventry City FC, where we hope the strong relationships between Boro's Ian Neale and Kevin Wilkin and Coventry's Steven Pressley and Steve Waggott will continue to ensure the growth and development of talented players at both teams through loan signings."
