Mowbray joins Thorn fan club

Boro boss pays compliment to the way City now play Coventry City lost at The Riverside yesterday to a very late winning goal from Tarmo Kink. City went ahead in the first half when Jutkiewicz netted in the tenth minute. Middlesbrough equalised fifteen minutes later though an Arca strike. After the game Boro boss Tony Mowbray praised the effort and performance of a very different Coventry City side to the one that beat Boro at The Ricoh earlier in the season. Mowbray's side found it hard to play against  a City side who, under Thorn have totally changes tactics and formation that was played under the previous manager Aidy Boothroyd.   “They have changed their style to pass through the middle and you’re speaking to a guy who has always tried to play that way,” he said. “When we get a team that can do that here we will be more fluent than we were today. What’s striking about Coventry is the difference in the philosophy of the two coaches. Aidy has a way of playing and in the past he’s been very successful with that. He got Watford promotion playing very direct and high energy and it seemed to work reasonably well at the start of this season." “Maybe somewhere along the line the players perhaps lost faith with that but the change of tactics under a new coach can inspire a team. The test is to have them buy into that philosophy completely and keep going even when they lose a few games." "There will be times, especially at home, when teams set out to frustrate you and nullify your diamond and then the temptation is to start going long. You have to be strong enough to keep going in those circumstances. That’s the big test for any coach, but I must say I was very impressed with them today. They kept going, doing the same thing for the whole 90 minutes and in the last 20 it only looked as if one side was going to win”
