Keogh on the Leicester game

The Ricoh should be rocking, says defender The ever present and reliable Coventry City defender Richard Keogh has said he is looking forward to the start of the new season and getting off to a good start with a win of Leicester City tomorrow. With Leicester City selling their entire allocation of tickets and on asking for more, selling those as well, they are likely to be bring over 6,300 of their supporters to The Ricoh and Keogh is relishing the prospect. He said, “they’re bringing a lot of fans and I’m sure our’s will be turning out in their thousands. There aren’t many better grounds in the Championship and the atmosphere should be brilliant." “We’ve got a youngish team but I’m sure they can handle the occasion because when you become a professional footballer you want to play in front of as many people as possible. "We want to be playing in front of 20,000-plus crowds week in and week out. We need to keep cool heads because you can’t afford to let the adrenalin get the better of you and have somebody sent off for a reckless tackle, but you’ve got to look after yourself because it’s a local derby and you know what to expect.” The attacking right back has been played by the City boss Andy Thorn as a central defender during the pre-season campaign but as long as he is playing Keogh doesn't mind where he plays. Keogh has been playing at centre-half during City’s friendly programme and is happy to operate there or at right back. He said, “Hopefully the manager will keep picking me and I’ll keep doing the business on the pitch whichever position I play. I’ve worked hard in pre-season and I feel fit and sharp. If I can get anything close to what I did last year that would be fantastic but it’s all about the team.”
