Keeping The Flame of Hope Alive - SBT

Sky Blue Trust Statement Over the past few weeks the Sky Blue Trust has continued in its on-going diplomatic mission to get Coventry City back to the Ricoh Arena by engaging in independent talks with directors and senior members of ACL, Coventry City Council, Football League and Otium. Unfortunately despite numerous requests over many months SISU have refused to talk to the Trust. We remain hopeful that Ms Seppala will change her mind we would, as ever, be happy to discuss the current tragic situation facing the club, its supporters and the citizens of Coventry with her.   The overall tone of each meeting has given a tiny ray of hope, each party stating they are unhappy with the current situation, with the team playing 35 miles away from its home and how they would each welcome a resolution. Frustratingly each one has its own view of how to achieve this and none appear to be desperate to find a solution. Surely there is a deal to done then?.... but its getting each party to agree as to what that deal might entail that is so far proving elusive. It is not the Trusts place to negotiate the terms of any deal but it is our mission to get the parties to start talking to each other about a deal. The Trust will continue in its diplomatic efforts to try to facilitate and persuade the various parties to look past their own individual needs and take into account the wider needs of the community and the club’s fans.   Despite recent misleading reports the Sky Blue Trust are open to talks with any person or any organisation who might have an influence in achieving what we seek – Coventry City back in Coventry. The Trust is not engaged in any direct action against any of the parties, it is not pointing the finger of blame at anyone, we are where we are and we must look forward not backwards. We believe that the only way this terrible situation will be resolved is through diplomacy, open agendas, discussion and deal making.   This sad state of affairs is not about “supporting” ACL, CCC, SISU or Otium, these are all just businesses/organisations.  It is about the fans of Coventry City. It is the supporters who make a football club, it is our passion, our faith, our devotion that makes a football club more than a mere business. We, the fans, are the heart and soul of the club - We Are Coventry.   The Trust are working hard, seeking a resolution so our club will survive, will flourish and, in the long term, return to the upper echelons of English football. We will continue to engage with all the parties concerned and to press for a resolution that brings our club back to Coventry.
