I'm Sure The City Supporters Will Turn Out In Force Again - Robins
More from Robins on FA Cup tie at Spurs
Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that he hopes that City supporters will be out in force for the FA Cup Third Round tie at Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole about the draw which has thrown up a repeat of the 1987 FA Cup Final, City boss Mark Robins said; "I remember the 1987 FA Cup Final very well indeed. "It was a real classic and it obviously has huge significance for our supporters so they will enjoy their day out.
"They were absolutely magnificent at The Emirates when there was 8,000 of them singing their hearts out at the final whistle, despite the result and I am sure they will turn out in force again.
"When you are in a cup competition, you are hoping for a home game, but this is a great draw for us - the chance to play one of the top sides in Europe who are steeped in FA Cup history.
"It's a massive challenge but we acquitted ourselves well at Arsenal until we lost our legs in the last twenty minutes and recently we have been playing well away from home. There are always surprises in the Third Round and we have to hope that we can be one of them.
"I certainly don't see cup competitions as a distraction because the players enjoy them and it gives you the chance to develop some continuity. We'll look forward to playing Tottenham, just as we look forward to playing Sheffield United in the JPT on Tuesday night."
