I'd Sign Seven City Players - Di Canio
Swindon boss on the threat of City
Swindon Town manager Paulo Di Canio has admitted that he would sign seven Coventry City players if he could.
Swindon are currently under a transfer embargo, so whilst Di Canio won't be sniffing round the squad, he certainly won't be under-estimating a City side which is unbeaten in four matches.
Di Canio is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “If I read to you seven players that Coventry have in their squad, I would have every single one.“Not because I don’t have good players but because I would have them for their pedigree, for their quality and their knowledge. “I would have them to stretch my squad. Gary McSheffrey, 40 Premiership appearances, 266 Championship appearances, “Kevin Kilbane, 325 Premiership appearances, 109 national appearances.”
Di Canio also picked out Stephen Elliott, David McGoldrick, Richard Wood, David Bell and Joe Murphy, plus Cody McDonald and Callum Ball and said: “Since the manager arrived they have won two games and he has sent a message because he has not changed many players.“He maybe wants to make this team more solid. “Only through victories can they get the right mentality. It’s not a coincidence that he played for Manchester United. “They have two or three players that in one moment can damage you. We have Tommy Miller, Alan Navarro and Jay McEveley (with that kind of experience).”
