I Can Still Play In The Championship - Wright

Stephen Wright still carries Championship dream Former Coventry City defender Stephen Wright feels that he can still play in the Championship.Speaking to the Hounslow Chronicle, Wright, who is now at Brentford, said: "Of course, anyone who has played at Premiership and Championship level wants to play there again, and I believe I still can."I've only been here a short time (Wright was on trial for two weeks beforesigning), I can already see the potential at this club, and there's noreason why I can't get back to where I want to be with Brentford."Wright who was on the bench for Liverpool's UEFA Cup Final win over Alaves in 2001, said: "You could say it's a long way from where I have been before, butthere's no airs and graces about me. It's still a round ball and a patch ofgrass, and I just love playing football."I had some great times at Liverpool, but I didn't really get many chances under Gerard Houllier, it was the younger players who tended to make way."But that's football. I went on to Sunderland, then Coventry, and I playedalmost every game last season there as skipper, but when Chris Coleman got sacked, Adrian Boothroyd wanted to bring his own people in."I had a trial at MK Dons, but their manager couldn't fit me into hisbudget, so I came on trial at Brentford, and it went really well."Picture copyright of Covsupport News Service.
