Hughes told to respond

Coventry City boss Micky Adams has challenged Stephen Hughes to prove he was wrong to strip him of the captaincy.

Adams has handed veteran defender Robert Page the armband at the Ricoh Arena and has urged his former skipper to respond in a positive manner.

"Stephen was captain when I first arrived at this football club and I decided to run with that because I didn't want to make too many changes, but I think the time is right to appoint Pagey," said Adams.

"Whether he agrees with it or not, Stephen is now left to think about his own football and his own job, and if he can do that and we can get the best out of him then fine.

"From day one everyone could see Robert was captain material."
