Stephen Hughes has signed a new three-year contract with Coventry City.
The 28-year-old Sky Blues captain's current deal was due to expire at the end of this month but he has opted to commit his long-term future to the club.
The former Arsenal, Everton and Watford midfielder missed just six league games for the club last season after being signed by previous boss Peter Reid one year ago.
Chairman Mike McGinnity told the club's official website: "This is great news for everybody associated with Coventry City Football Club.
"We signed Stephen at a time when he hadn't enjoyed the best of fortunes, but safe in the knowledge that he was a quality player and I think he demonstrated that last season."
