Former Coventry City loanee Gary Gardner made his first start for Aston Villa at Villa Park in their Premier League game against Manchester City this afternoon.

This was actually Gardner's sixth appearance in a Villa first team shirt but all his previous five had been away from home.

Gardner, who scored on his City debut at Brighton and made three more appearances before returning back to Birmingham, along with former Sky Blue Robbie Keane went down to a 62nd minute Joleon Lescott goal.  

In the other Premier League game of the day, former City loanee Marton Fulop was an unused substitute for West Brom who had a 5-1 win at local rival Wolves.
