Coventry City caretaker boss Adrian Heath has added to his side's defensive strength by signing Shelbourne's Colin Hawkins, who played for the Sky Blues' youth team a decade ago.
The 29-year-old began his playing career with Salthill Devon in Galway, before penning a two-year contract with City.
However, he left the club in 1997 without making a first-team appearance and signed for St Patrick's Athletic where he spent three fruitful seasons before being snapped up by then Conference side Doncaster Rovers.
He returned to Ireland in November 2001 and played for Bohemians, before joining Shelbourne three years later.
After signing a deal that will keep him at the Ricoh Stadium until the end of next season, Hawkins told City's official website: "It's very exciting to be here again.
"It's ten years since I left City so it's a great opportunity for me and I'm delighted to be here.
"I arrived over for a two-day trial and I was obviously impressed by the stadium, Adrian Heath and the whole coaching staff, so it was up to me to show what I could do on the pitch.
"Luckily everything's worked out and I'm delighted that I've signed an 18-month contract."
