Gray day for Sky Blues

Coventry City boss Iain Dowie has made his ninth signing of the summer after snapping up winger Julian Gray.

The 27-year-old was available on a free transfer following his release from Birmingham City at the end of last season and has signed a two-year deal at the Ricoh Arena.

Gray, who began his career at Arsenal before moving on to Crystal Palace in 2000, made just seven Championship appearances last season.

He joins Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, Robbie Simpson, Arjan De Zeeuw, Gary Borrowdale, Leon Best, Michael Hughes, Donovan Simmonds and Ellery Cairo as a new arrival at Coventry this summer.

Meanwhile, a tribunal has ruled the Sky Blues must pay £40,000 to Cambridge United to complete the signing Robbie Simpson.

The total compensation package could rise to £130,000 based on appearances, but City's managing director Paul Fletcher revealed his delight with the outcome.

"I think it shows that the club's offer for Robbie's registration was fair and that today's outcome and the level of compensation reflects that," he told the club's official website.
