First Goal In Scunthorpe Game Will Be Important
Early team news Whoever scores the first goal tomorrow between Coventry City and Scunthorpe United (3pm kick off at Ricoh Arena) could decide the outcome of the match. Statistically, according to the BBC 'Coventry have not won this season after letting in the opening goal, and have manged three points from losing positions all season. Scunthorpe, meanwhile, have lost all 17 matches in which they have been behind at half-time.' The game which sees adults paying full price able to buy a ticket for a pound for those under 15, is City's first on a Good Friday afternoon since City joined the Football League in 1919. A decision made by then manger Aidy Boothroyd before the season started to give his players an extra day before Monday's trip to Middlesbrough. A home game against Leeds was initally to have been played on Good Friday in the 1970's but pressure from supporters and employers at a number of factories in Coventry where Good Friday is not a full public holiday, saw the game which finished 0-0 put back untl the Saturday. All those who took part in the 2-1 win over Millwall on Saturday are expected to be included in Andy Thorn and Steve Harrison's side. Scunthorpe who won 2-1 at Crystal Palace in their last match, hope to have Michael O'Connor back from a thigh injury but Gary Thompson is out with a groin injury.
