Doyle stays loyal to City

Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle is already looking forward to the season after snubbing offers from other clubs and remaining loyal to the Sky Blues.

The 25-year-old has made 185 appearances for the club since his transfer from Celtic four years ago and is delighted to have recently had the opportunity to pen a new four-year deal with Iain Dowie's side.

"I've spoken to the manager a lot in recent months, both towards the end of the season and over the last few weeks, and he's convinced me it's the right thing to do," Doyle told the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

"I wanted to be sure that the club is going in the right direction and he assured me that he wouldn't have taken the job in the first place unless he thought there was potential to get promotion.

"And when push came to shove, the thought of leaving Coventry and then the club getting promotion without me didn't bear thinking about. I want to be part of that success."
