Dowie promises changes

New Coventry City manager Iain Dowie has promised to stamp his mark on the under-performing club and take the Sky Blues back to the top-flight.
Dowie, who was named the permanent successor to sacked manager Micky Adams on Monday, has vowed to improve the fortunes of the ailing former Premiership club but has warned City fans not to expect instant success.
"I always wanted to get back into management at the right opportunity and I looked a club of Coventry's tradition and ambition and felt it was a job which suits me," he told the club's official website.
"It's a big club, but there are a lot of clubs in the Championship who seem to feel they have a divine right to be in the Premiership.
"I hope next year we can be one of those sides, but first and foremost, we need to stabilise and end this season on a high.
"Any team I've ever managed has passed the ball, played with good energy and at a good tempo.
"I want a very athletic and energetic team which plays attractive football but also competes with an iron will - its not going to happen overnight, but it is something to look forward to.
"I think it's a case of refreshing things. I've identified some areas of the squad which need improving but we have to make sure the people we bring in are the right characters."
