Deegan to miss rest of season

Coventry midfielder Gary Deegan will be out for the rest of the season after encountering another setback in his recovery from an ankle injury. The 23-year-old Irishman, was has made 17 appearances for the Sky Blues since joining from Bohemians in January, originally tore ankle ligaments in the 3-0 defeat to Reading in April, before suffering a stress fracture to the same ankle during pre-season in his urgency to recover. It was thought he would be back in the side before the end of the year, however, he now requires further surgery after a pin put in place during a previous operation to heal the fracture came loose.City manager Aidy Boothroyd told the Coventry Telegraph: "We have had a bit of bad news with Gary who, unfortunately, has been told he needs another operation on his ankle which is going to put him out for the rest of the season really."It is a big blow for him and for us because I was looking forward to having him back this year, so it is disappointing."
