Deegan suffers ankle injury

Coventry City have been handed an injury setback ahead of the new season after midfielder Gary Deegan suffered a stress fracture to his ankle.

The 22-year-old could be out of action for up to four months and it is a big blow for the youngster who joined from Irish side Bohemians in January.

Speaking to the club's official website, manager Aidy Boothroyd said: "I am disappointed for Gary as I was looking forward to him getting a good pre-season like the rest of the lads.

"But we are looking at three or four months out. He will be desperate to get back and we will have to manage that, but he will be like having a new signing when he returns."
