Sky Blues wait on Bailey

James Bailey continues to be an injury doubt ahead of Coventry's home clash against league leaders Tranmere.

The midfielder missed Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Carlisle having picked up a knock in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy area semi-final victory over Preston last Thursday night.

He will again be assessed as the Sky Blues aim to bounce back from the disappointment at Brunton Park.

Manager Mark Robins, who is not expected to have any other injury concerns, branded his side's display "rubbish" so changes could be on the cards.

Left-back Blair Adams plays the final game of his current loan spell although Coventry are working hard on extending his stay at the Ricoh Arena.

City are 13th in League One and know victory against Rovers, who have won their last four league matches, would put them within three points of the play-off places.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Abdulai Bell-Baggie are pushing for involvement after the Tranmere attacking duo completed their rehabilitation from injury ahead of schedule.

Forward Akpa Akpro came off the bench to make his first appearance since suffering a broken metatarsal in October as the npower League One leaders overcame Crawley 2-0.

Former Rotherham winger Bell-Baggie did not make it on against the Red Devils but the lateral knee ligament victim was an unused substitute, featuring in the matchday squad for the first time in two months.

"You now look around at the bench and you've got options," boss Ronnie Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"It's great when you know you've got players of quality that can hurt teams."

Moore's remaining injury absentee is skipper James Wallace, who has been out since the start of December with medial knee ligament damage.
