Coleman hopeful over Wright
03 Jun 2009 - 13:15:29
Coventry City boss Chris Coleman is hopeful that Stephen Wright will have better luck with injuries next season.
The 29-year-old made just over 20 appearances for the Sky Blues last term, missing the final month of the campaign with a knee problem.
Coleman told the Evening Telegraph: "Unfortunately Stephen had no chance of featuring in the last month to six weeks of the season.
"He played fewer than 25 games last season, but when he was on the pitch, the percentage of those games we won was really high.
"His injury is coming on well and he'll be good for the start of pre-season, but we maybe need another right-back because we don't want the situation we faced last year playing players out of position.
"Wrighty proved he can play at centre-half as well as right-back when we needed him, so we want him fit and raring to go come the new season.
"We were a little bit worried when he first suffered his knee injury, but it quickly settled down and, with the right amount of rest and physio, he's fine now."
