City Players Forced To Play The Waiting Game

A Covsupport News Service Comment Coventry City players are waiting to find out if they will have a new contract for next season or whether it will be time for their agent to do some work and get them a new club. The new board under Ken Dulieu are currently keeping the club going but have yet to say anything about next season. Whether they are just biding their time until Gary Hoffman, who was at Middlesbrough on Monday watching the Sky Blues, makes his move to buy the club or are holding out to see if finances improve is anyone's guess. Although conversations have been held with Andy Thorn, there has been so far no news as to whether he or anyone else on a short list which is rumoured to include George Burley, David O'Leary, Kevin Blackwell and Barnsley's Mark Robins, have been appointed to take the job on a full time basis. This delaying has meant that there have been very little negotiatons of players for next season and season ticket sales have been greatly affected due to the uncertainty. Whilst Gary McSheffrey and Clive Platt, have both played enough matches for a new contract to kick in, the likes of Danny Ireland, Michael Quirke, Stephen O'Halloran, Isaac Osbourne, Lee Carsley, Michael McIndoe, Shaun Jeffers and Callum Wilson are waiting to hear if they will be offered new deals along with the more publicised likes of Keiren Westwood, Marlon King and Aron Gunnarsson who are all out of contract on July 1st 2011. Like everyone of us, the players, a number of whom have come through the clubs ranks, have a right to work and the sooner they know whether or not they will be employed by CCFC next season, the better for them and the club.
