Bottom three for Coventry
Coventry City drop into 22nd place despite a 1-1 draw away at Doncaster this afternoon. Captain Sammy Clingan opened the scoring in the first half, but City were pegged back by a Hayter strike on the hour mark.
Watford leapfrog City with a 3-2 win over Peterborough. Leicester lost 3-2 at West Ham who move clear into second place in the Championship after Crystal Palace could only manage a goalless draw at home to Reading.
Bottom club Bristol City stay bottom despite a 2-1 win at Barnsley and Birmingham drew 0-0 with Brighton. Former Coventry striker Marlon King started the game but was substituted in the second half.
Elsewhere Derby beat Portsmouth 3-1 and Millwall beat Ipswich 4-1 and Southampton trounced promotion rivals Middlesbrough 3-0 at St Mary’s to move clear at the top of the table.
Former Coventry City goal keeper Kieren Westwood has finally made his Sunderland debut after leaving Coventry on a free transfer in the summer. First choice keeper Simon Mignolet suffered a knock to his face against Aston Villa and left the field with blood streaming from his nose, Westwood immediately replace the Belgian in goal. The game ended in a 2-2 draw with Westwood conceding to a Richard Dunne strike.
