Busy transfer deadline day for Thorn

But expects only one new player Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said he expects to be busy on Wednesday, which is the transfer deadline day. However, before every City fans gets too excited he went on say he would be disappointed if he didn't sign at least one player, which means he expects interest from other clubs who will be trying to sign some of his current players. Thorn confirmed his interest in signing Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre, but refused to be drawn on details. City had an offer for the in-form striker rejected and branded as a 'joke' bid by Millers chairman Tony Stewart, despite being reported as £350,000 plus add ons and a player. Thorn said, "He is still a Rotherham player so it would be unfair to speak about that. He’s someone I am interested in and we have tried to get, and I think that has been released from their end. It is an area we are looking to improve in and if we can that will be great.” Thorn was asked if he had a plan B in case his plans went awry  and he replied, “We’ve had a few back-up plans; I think we’re on Plan S at the minute!" “Everyone knows the situation at the club. I know who I want and if we can get them, great, because it will give us a little boost going into the break and time to work with them, but if it doesn’t then we will just have to go with how we are.” Thorn remains optimistic that he will be able to sign at least one new player by Wednesday evening when the transfer window closes, but more importantly he wants to be able to keep all of his current squad, but has fears that some of them will leave. He said, “I will be disappointed if we don’t get at least one. I am sure there will be lots of activity on Wednesday. I am bringing my sleeping bag and will be battening down the hatches and kidnapping all the players as well." “I’m only kidding, but I think we have got some good players at this football club so there is bound to be interest in our players but I certainly don’t want to be losing anyone.”
