Baker: King is our Yakubu

Carl Baker talks about Leicester game Coventry City midfielder Carl Baker has been talking about their forthcoming game against local rivals Leicester City on Saturday. The contrast between the two sides is stark with Leicester with plenty of money  and in a run of fine form while Coventry City are in a bit of a slump and losing money hand over fist.  Coventry are at the wrong end of the table and Leicester City are pushing hard for a play off place. Leicester City can attract Premier League players to play for them on loan, while Coventry City can't even get their own players fit to play. On the face of it, the result at The Walkers Stadium on Saturday will be a walk over for the home side, but the Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd has instilled a never say die attitude in his players and is convinced that despite a run of losses, his side has been competitive  and that they will give The Foxes a hard game. Carl Baker also thinks his side can compete with Leicester City and that they ave a player in Marlon King that compares very well with Leicester's loan signing from Everton Yakubu. Baker, speaking abut the impact King has had on the Coventry side, enthused. "He’s like our Yakubu. I was saying at the weekend that having Marlon in the team straight away gives all the lads a buzz because everyone knows he’s a class above the Championship and to have him in the team gives everyone a massive boost because we know he’s going to score." “The players know out on the pitch that if we can get the ball in the box he’s going to get a goal because we see him doing it every day in training, so having him up front makes a massive difference." “Yakubu has gone to Leicester and has made a massive difference and is a big player who is scoring goals but I think Marlon is the same for us. Leicester are doing really well at the minute but this is a local derby and all form goes out of the window. It’s all about who wants it the most." “With me being a Liverpool fan I go to as many derbies with Everton as I can and it doesn’t matter who plays the best football or what tactics you play, it is about who wants it, so I have been looking forward to this one to be honest.” The Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd took a wider view of Leicester and while acknowledging the quality and influence of Yakubu, he believes  Sven Goran Erickson has his side playing well. Boothroyd said, “He’s an out-and-out goalscorer, but they’ve got a lot of threats and a good mixture in their squad.” “They’ve got pace and guile in wide areas and two footballing full backs plus a goalkeeper, Ricardo, who’s played in World Cups. They’re a team you’d expect to be up there, in and around it, which is where they are.”
