Coventry City boss Andy Thorn is waiting to learn the extent of the groin injury that forced Richard Wood off the field during the 2-1 cup defeat to Southampton.
Wood felt a pain in his groin and was replaced by Chris Hussey in the 77th minute, but Thorn was not keen on playing Hussey as he has not yet fully recovered from his own ankle injury.
Hussey, who was partly at fault for Southampton's second goal, further damaged his ankle during the game and is now likely to out of contention for another fortnight.
Thorn told the CT, “Woody is having a scan because he hurt his groin during the game so we’re waiting to see how he is, but he’s going to be a doubt for Saturday.
“Chris Hussey will be out for a couple of weeks with an ankle injury. He’s maybe come back a bit early. I wasn’t going to use him on Saturday but Woody felt his groin which is why he had to come off.”
In some more welcome news, club captain Sammy Clingan will play in a reserves game against Chesterfield today and if he comes though the game without any problems Thorn will decide whether the midfielder figure in the trip to Derby on Saturday.
Clingan has been out for a month with a broken toe and is expected to be in the squad that travels to Derby, but whether he will play remains to be seen.

In even more welcome news, right back Jordan Clarke, who injured his knee during pre season training and has not played a single game so far this season is also scheduled to play in the reserves against Chesterfield as well. Assuming he comes though the game unscathed, he too could be in Saturday's squad, but it is unlikely he will leave the bench.
Thorn confirmed. “We’ll have a look at Jordan and see how he’s shaping up but it might be too soon for him to come straight back because he’s been out a long time.”
Out of favour striker Freddy Eastwood is also likely to get a game in the reserves so Thorn can assess his fitness.
Two other strikers are recovering well from their injuries and will probably be fit to be in Saturday's squad.
Lukas Jutkiewicz, who missed the cup game last weekend, is recovering well from his back injury while Clive Platt, who also has a back problem and has had in injection in his back, will probably be selected.
Cody McDonald is still receiving treatment for a knee injury and will not be ready to play at Derby.
Thorn revealed, “Juke is responding well to treatment so I’m hoping he’ll be all right for Saturday, and Platty might be available as well
.”
