The defender's appointment ends over four weeks of speculation as to who will take the armband after Dann completed a switch to Premier League new boys Birmingham. Several players were in the frame but manager Chris Coleman has opted for Wright, who only arrived at the club from Liverpool last summer. Wright was restricted to 21 appearances for the Sky Blues last season due to injury but, speaking about the 29-year-old, Coleman told the club's official website: "Stephen is an experienced professional and when he featured last year we enjoyed our most successful spells. "He is a level-headed individual, calm, solid defender who a lot of the younger lads look up to and can learn from. "He is a leader with or without the armband and I'm sure he will do extremely well for the team."
