Will Best Get Stick?
The Best debate According to the Coventry Telegraph this morning, Leon Best can expect a right load of stick from the City supporters who journey up to St James' Park tonight. City boss Chris Coleman after being asked if the City supporters having a go at Best during the game, could bring out the best in him, told the CT: Players do and I have seen it but I am not going to try to tell our supporters who travel all that way what songs not to sing. "I am sure they will have something to say because of his departure and the timing of it I suppose, but you see it a lot and I don't think there is anything we can say that will stop them saying what they want to say. "But he got ten goals for us before he went to Newcastle so like him or loathe him he scored ten goals and was our top scorer." Best is expected to play some part in tonight's game after leaving Coventry for a fee, something they didn't get with Michael Mifsud and although the exact figure is as always, whilst the likes of Dermot Coleman and his SISU co-horts have their hands on the club, undisclosed, at least it was a fee for a player who was out of contract in the summer and unlikely to sign a new one. For once, this was a win-win situation with the 2008 Covsupport News Service Young Player Of The Year getting a new deal and a wage rise at a Premier League ready club and the Sky Blues getting in some cash to help finance Freddie Sears and Jon Stead being taken on loan until the end of the season. Best may have not been to the liking to a section of the City support at home matches but away from home, he had the majority backing of the Sky Blue Army whenever he put on a City shirt . So expecting the striker to be fully abused like Craig Bellamy or Lee Hughes is nothing more than stirring things up. Yes there will be the usual football banter with Besty, (although megaphones will probably needed with the City support again located high in the clouds tonight), but it will be done in the knowledge that his moving to Newcastle was a good deal for all concerned.
