Noel has applied to replace Boothroyd Neol Whelan has joined the list of former Coventry City players interested in the vacant Coventry City managers job. Whelan has joined the likes of Richard Shaw and Dion Dublin and Don Hutchison and Robert Page who are all said to be interested in taking over from the job vacated by Aidy Boothroyd. Speaking to the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter, Whelan said: "I'll manage Coventry City for free to prove a point. "I applied for role just before Aidy Boothroyd took charge but the board decided to go with him. "Football management's like a merry go round. It's hard for any manager these days because things can change so quickly. "I have worked at Derby County as a youth coach and worked alongside the likes of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet. I have all my coaching badges including my UEFA B so I am raring to go if the club gives me the opportunity."
