Westwood injury blow to Ireland as well as Coventry City
Trapattoni searching for Irish goalkeepers The injury to goal keeper Kieren Westwood is bad news for his club Coventry City, but with another Euro qualifying came against Macedonia looming, the loss of Westwood is a severe blow for the Republic of Ireland as all of their other international goalies are currently injured. The former Irish number one 'Keeper Shay Given is still out of action and Westwood was taken off after conceding three goals on Saturday with a hip injury which will probably keep him out for six to eight weeks. Trapattoni's other eligible 'keepers are also on the treatment table. Scunthorpe's Joe Murphy and Ipswich's Brian Murphy, are both out with injury. Trapattoni is thought to be looking at the possibility of calling up Motherwell's Darren Randolph, or more likely David Forde from Millwall or Birmingham City's reserve 'keeper Colin Doyle, who was drafted in to Coventry City when Westwood was injured at the start of the season. QPR's goalkeeper Paddy Kenny also has a good claim for a place in the Republic of Ireland set up with his performances at the current Championship leaders.
