Westwood handed Republic call
Giovanni Trapattoni's side host Bulgaria on March 28 before travelling to Bari to face reigning World champions and Group Eight leaders Italy on April 1.
Westwood, 24, is one of three keepers in the 26-man squad along with Shay Given of Manchester City and West Brom's Dean Kiely.
