Development Officer On Attempt To Bring in a player

Coventry City Development Officer Steve Waggott has said that City did want to bring in a player but the deal changed.

Speaking to Nick Connoll, Mr Waggott, who said that the club were steadfast in their resolve to keep the likes of Leon Clarke, Callum Wilson and Cyrus Christie, said: "We did want to bring a player in, but it did not work out. It was not a pressing need, just someone we felt would add to our strength in a certain area.

“We thought we had an agreement but the selling club changed the type of deal, and it no longer suited us.”

City can bring in players who are out of contract from today and can sign players on loan in two weeks time when the loan transfer window opens.
