City boss on keeper signing new deal Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that he wants Danny Ireland to be pushing for a first team place. The Australian, brought to the club by Ken Sharpe as a raw youngster as a seventeen year old, was taken under the wing of goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic and his  game improved to the level where he was in goal for City's pre-season in 2008 and played in the League Cup win over Aldershot. However, the signing of Keiren Westwood and lack of match practice and injuries and illness restricted any further team opportunities to one substitute appearance last season. Ireland has signed for another year and speaking about him signing to the club website, City boss Andy Thorn said: "We are delighted that Danny has signed and believe he has a promising future. "This is a big season for him and we certainly want to see him challenging for a first team place."
