Gary McSheffrey was another City player disappointed by Coventry City’s 2-1 defeat to Southampton in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday.
“We started well and they looked quite weak in the full-back areas,” said McSheffrey, who fired the Sky Blues ahead in the fifth minute to the CT. “Gael got his head to it and then it took a touch off Roy and just bounced into my path and I stuck it away.
“I was trying to get to the by-line to get balls over and we just needed to get more people in the box.
"Roy was the only one trying to get on the end of things and had we gambled a bit more we might have been two or three up and deservedly so.
“But it was like a game of two halves because we came in at half time and you’d think there would only be one winner but we let them creep back into the game and let in two bad goals.
"After about 55-60 minutes we stopped doing what was hurting them.”
Speaking about the two goals City conceded, he said: “There was a 50-50 tackle to be won. “Conor has been great and he was disappointed afterwards that he didn’t put his foot through that because they are the fine lines that if he deals with that then they don’t cross the ball in but he’ll learn from that.
“People are given markers from corners and we’ve let someone have a free header and it’s not good enough.
