City's new Sport Scientist speaks Coventry City's new Sports Scientist Martyn Pert has said there is no reason why Coventry City cannot be challenging this season.Speaking to the CT, Pert who worked with Aidy Boothroyd and Malky McKay at Watford said:" In the eight days I have been here the players are very receptive to the structure we're trying to put into place."Aidy has influenced me in any way on any player. He wants me to look at the situation with a fresh pair of eyes so I can analyse and give him my opinions, give him a different prospective."And they seem a good bunch of lads who want to be successful and know that they need to sacrifice certain things in order to make the most of their careers."Footballers get accustomed to backroom staff changing, people coming in and out, so then it's down to individual rapport and communication skills. If you are a good person and a decent feller, people will be all right with you."I have a relationship with Aidy but it's important that I don't focus on that - I have to develop a relationship with the other backroom staff who are all very capable and important to us.""This year, there is no West Brom, no Newcastle who have all the resources that others haven't. There's QPR and Cardiff but I think it is a really open division where anything is possible for any team."As long as we are competitive and do all the right things, we've got a chance of doing well."
