Video Replays Ruled Out

IFAB says no The International Football Association Board have voted out the use of goal-line technology and video replays in the game.Two systems in Hawkeye, which is well known in cricket and tennis and Cairos which involves a micro chip in the ball were presented to the delegates at the IFAB AGM in Zurich, Switzerland.FIFA had four votes on the whilst each of the English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish FA's had a vote each. FIFA used their four votes to add to the Irish and Welsh vote to veto the plans although the door has been left open for the use of extra assistant referees behind each goal. This will be discussed at a meeting in May to see if it can be used worldwide."The door is closed. The decision was not to use technology at all," said Fifa General Secretary Jerome Valcke to the BBC. "Technology should not enter into the game, It was a clear statement made by the majority of the IFAB. "Let's keep the game of football as it is."
