The Sky Blue Trust has written the following letter to Paul Appleton of David Rubin and Partners LLP, the appointed administrators for CCFC Ltd.
Dear Mr Appleton
I am writing to you on behalf of the Sky Blue Trust. We are an independent, democratic organisation with over 1300 members, all of whom are supporters of Coventry City Football Club. We have become increasingly concerned over recent months about the future of the Club and are especially saddened and alarmed by the recent decision to place the Club into Administration.
Following the proceedings in the High Court, we now know that you are formally appointed as the Administrator. I am therefore writing to request that you agree to meet with a small group of Trust representatives, along with one or two colleagues from Supporters Direct, at the earliest possible date. We would like to introduce ourselves to you and begin exploring ways in which we, as a formally constituted supporters trust, can assist in finding short and longer term solutions to the challenges facing the Club.
Whilst we welcome the news that agreement has been reached for the final three home matches to be played at the Ricoh Arena we still have some immediate concerns about the arrangements for ticketing etc. Supporters of the Club are confused and bewildered by the current position and deeply worried about the uncertain position their club has been put in. It would be most helpful if you could outline what steps you are taking to address those concerns. As you are aware the Trust did a large amount of shuttle diplomacy between all parties to assist in getting the venue dispute sorted but if there is anything more we can do to help you and thereby the clubs supporters, we would be willing to discuss practical forms of assistance.
Beyond that, we are keen to work with you in the process of exploring options for the future ownership and governance of the Club. You will be very aware of the positive progress made by Supporters Trusts at other Clubs facing financial difficulty. We wish to register our interest in making a similar, substantial contribution to securing a sustainable, successful future for Coventry City.
To that end we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible, to arrange an early, initial meeting.
