The Magpies leapt back into pole position in the league after goals from Wayne Routledge, Andy Carroll, Peter Lovenkrands and Ryan Taylor saw off Coventry 4-1, with the Sky Blues having Leon Barnett sent off in the second half.[LNB]Newcastle, who had headed into the game having won only twice in the last eight league games, had fallen behind to Clinton Morrison's tenth of the season but rallied and now hold a three-point lead over second-placed West Brom.[LNB]Hughton admitted he never expected an easy encounter against a Coventry side that were unbeaten in their last five games and the Newcastle boss is looking for his side to maintain their current level of performance.[LNB]"It is what we have come to expect, we came up against a Coventry side in good form that worked very, very hard," he said.[LNB]"When they got the goal, which was possibly against the run of play, it spurred us on and I think that fact we got the goal back relatively early helped.[LNB]"The formations we have played here at home in the last couple of games have been more offensive and you hope when you do that you can capitalise.[LNB]"The standards we have set ourselves this season mean we will have our highs and lows and the last two away games, especially Derby, have not shown us at our best.[LNB]"When you are not at your best you hope you can nick something, which we were able to do at Swansea.[LNB]"We will certainly need to take some of our home form into our away form to achieve what we want to achieve this season."[LNB]Hughton also singled out Wayne Routledge's contribution in the win against the Sky Blues.[LNB]"What Wayne has got is old-fashioned wing play," he added.[LNB]"You look at him to provide crosses and deliveries into the box but it is also a real added bonus when he comes up with a goal, and it was an excellent one at that."[LNB]Coventry boss Chris Coleman believed conceding an equaliser just two minutes after taking the lead in the first half had a huge impact on the outcome.[LNB]"We got a good goal, we had one cleared off the line and we got in some good positions," he said.[LNB]"We are a bit disappointed to concede the equaliser so quickly after scoring but for an hour we were always in the game.[LNB]"We knocked off for the second goal and when you are up against that type of quality you will be punished for one little slip and that is what happened."[LNB][LNB]
