More from Dulieu on his departure

Ken Dulieu has said that the time was right for him to step down as Chairman of Coventry City.

Speaking to the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter, Dulieu said: I came in to do a turn around job and that has been largely completed.

"The structure is in place, the system is in place, the people are in place and the losses have been greatly reduced, so all the mechanisms are now there.

"My job was to be the architect of putting those mechanisms in place and effecting the turnaround which is well on course.

"It was never my job to actually run the business so now that all these systems have been put in place, I think it's now the appropriate time to handover to local management to run it."

The search is well underway to find a new chairman and with all the foundations seemingly put in place, Dulieu is very much looking for a local appointment.

"I think you need somebody very wise, who has run boards before," Mr Dulieu added. "We need someone who has some understanding of football and who loves this football club.

"The most important thing is that they can put in the time needed and live within an hour of the stadium, that would be the ideal sort of person.

"We are after someone local, absolutely. Someone who is passionate about the club but most importantly has got the relevant skills and who has run a businesses as chairman.

"We have recruited a commercial director, which is great news, we've got an excellent finance director who has come on board, so all the disciplines, controls and systems have been put into place and now we can begin with the recruitment of a local chairman with local connections."
