Three Wickets Each For Woakes And Rankin

Cricket news Chris Woakes took three wickets as Warwickshire toiled in the field on the opening day of the County Championship game at Trent Bridge. With Neil Carter and Ian Bell injured and Jon Trott on international duty with England, Warwicks brought in Ateeq Javid and fielded first after losing the toss. Wicket keeper Tim Ambrose took two catches to see Notts on 45-2 but Samit Patel and Mark Wagh added sixty before Patel was caught by Javid off the bowling off Maddy for 35. Wagh went on to make 54 from 109 balls and was the fifth player out after David Hussey had been bowled by Woakes for 32. Ali Brown and Chris Read started to pile on runs, making a stand of 83 for the sixth wicket which saw Read bowled by Maddy. Brown was eventually caught by Chopra after making 76 runs, caught by Chopra to give a second wicket for Boyd Rankin who got the final wicket of the innings to see Nottinghamshire all out for 328 in 87.5 overs.
