The only way is up for Danny

Danny Drinkwater insists Cardiff are targeting top spot in the Championship this season - but would settle for second. Optimism and expectations have been raised in south Wales over the past month following the capture of Craig Bellamy and the club`s impressive start to the season - making the recent transfer embargo and threats of a winding-up order a distant memory for some. And 20-year-old midfielder Drinkwater, on a season-long loan from Manchester United, has faith in the Bluebirds` squad as they look to realise their promotion ambitions, although he recognises it will not be handed to them on a plate. "The expectation on us to win is not a bad thing at all," the youngster told the South Wales Echo. "I'm pretty sure teams will face us and give that extra 10% to put one over on us. But I believe we can match that if not better it. The challenge is there and I believe we can do what is expected of us which is to get promoted. We'll take a place in the top two, but we want the no 1 spot to be honest. "But it's going to be a hard season. We've got Hull next who have just come down and they are going to be tough. When you look at sides like that and Burnley I think it's one of the best Championships for a while. We know it's going to be hard, but these are the hurdles we have to take."
