Richard Wood on his goal

Coventry City defender Richard Wood dedicated his goal to his son’s first birthday.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Wood who scored last week for the Reserves and seven days later for the first team with a stoppage goal that earned City a point at Leeds United, said: "I am pleased about the goal, I think I should have had one at the weekend but the keeper has made a world class save.

"But yeah, really happy about it and I dedicate that to my son as it was his first birthday today.

"It is a great feeling to score here at Leeds as I have loads of mates who are Leeds fans so it is great for me.

“I think we deserved that and maybe if things went our way, we could have got more out of that. It was a really good performance tonight.

"The manager just told us to keep going and he said we were doing well in the first half so we kept going.

"I think we played some great stuff in the second half, we looked really good and you wouldn't have thought we were the away team.

"I think we can take plenty of confidence into the Burnley match as we did play some great stuff. Leeds have got all the things needed to be a good team as for us to get a result just shows how far we have come.”
