That Goal Was A Long Time Coming - McSheffrey
Gary on winning goal Gary McSheffrey felt that his winning goal against Doncaster was a long time coming.Speaking to the CT about his goal, McSheffrey jokes: "It's the best goal I have scored this season and it is probably up there with some of my best for Coventry, although I want to see it again."He went on to say: "I scored a few good ones back in the day but I feel it is certainly one of the most important goals I have scored for the club."I think it is no secret that the last couple of years have been frustrating. "I didn't play a lot last season and I missed the one before with injury so it was a nice feeling to finally break that duck because it was a long drought. "You don't get droughts as long as that in Africa!"I have scored a few like that in training so it was nice to get one in a game and hopefully that will kick-start my goals."His goal celebration which saw him with shirt off, heading towards his family and many friends in the stadium as well as the City manager, displayed to many of those at the game his passion for the club and he told the CT: "I'd have paid a lot more for that goal than any fine, so I am not too bothered. //'); //]]>"I will probably get a fine for taking my shirt off but it was worth it because it has been a long time coming. "It was a good feeling and all my family were there and I probably got a bit too emotional and let adrenaline take over, but it was nice."I missed a sitter just before it and I was pretty devastated about that. "But they say you just have to forget it and make sure the next one goes in."When asked by the CT's Andy Turner, if his goal would get him a start on Saturday against Hull, McSheffrey said: "Not at all because Danny Ward had a really good first half when he looked a threat and was getting shots off and made good use of the ball, and with a little more match fitness I think he will be good for us because he has got real pace."So it is not a given that I will start because Aron has been doing well on the right and for me, he and Westy have been man of the match in the last couple of games and he played well again on Tuesday night so he will definitely stay in the team."
