Tribute To Greg Rioch

Covsupport News Service would like to pay tribute to Greg Rioch, who is leaving the club at the end of the week.

Ricoh joined Coventry City in 2006 as Academy Manager replacing Brian Borrows and set up a legendary conveyor belt of players who have gone on to play for the first team.

The amount of first team appearances of players from the Academy from the likes of Adam Walker and Gael Bigirimana to now experienced first teamers Jordan Clarke, Conor Thomas and Cyrus Christie to name but three is in the hundreds and the current first team squad now depends very heavily on players from the Academy.

It was not only the highly important task of bringing through players, where Ricoh excelled. He also ticked all the boxes in getting results with some memorable wins, guiding the Sky Blues to a runners up slot in their final season of Academy Premier League football and ensuring that the Academy attained and later retained its category 2 status including an audit which took eighteen months of work and plenty of man hours.

Popular amongst staff, players and those who watch the U18's or take an interest in them, Rioch was always friendly, helpful and a superb ambassador for the Academy whenever he was called upon to represent the club, going way beyond the call of duty on many, many occasions.

All at Covsupport News Service wish Greg all the best in what ever he does next.
