10 February 2011 14:11
City Supporters team in action Coventry City Supporters FC take on Telford Supporters FC this Sunday at Coundon Park in Coventry. Kick off is at 2pm.Its an IFA League game, The unofficial supporters league, as well as a Midlands Cup game. We started in late 2008 for a Charity Tournament, The 606 Cup. This took place in Leicester. Our first ever game was against Leicester City 606 FC where we won 5-3 after extra time. We are a non-profit team, where all of the money we raise either go back into the team for stuff like tournament entries, pitch bookings, referee payments etc. and then whatever is left from the expenditure is put into the Charity pot. This years chosen charity is the WNAA - Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. We then participated in another 606 tournament, where we finished in the Semi Finals, losing out to Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. The 2010 606 tournament we were again pitted against Tottenham Hotspur in the Semi Final and lost 1-0 this time.I then took it upon myself to organise a charity tournament, in aid of Cancer Research UK, in Coventry - The Stanley Heames Cup. We raies £500 on the day and eventual winners were Leyton Orient. We expect to hold it on Sunday 4th September 2011 this year, with the charity being WNAA.I have always had an interest in the team, and it is self funded - alot of the players paying for games, match balls etc. out of their own pocket. Some even pitching in when others are struggling. We are always looking for players and volunteers to help the team aswell. My email address is - Jamespenny.fundraising@gmail.comand the website address is - www.pitchero.com/clubs/skybluesofcoventryAll support on Sunday is welcomed.
